Chilean Wedding Map

One of the fantastic things about keeping a modest Etsy shop is that is allows me to connect with people not just all over the U.S. but also all over the world! I’m currently creating a custom painting for a woman in Finland. This project was another such international client. I created this custom wedding map for a bride in Chile. She was married in a Church followed by a reception at a private park. She wanted a map that would convey the feeling of the rural feel of the venue, characterized by rolling green hills.

Shelter Island

This custom map was commissioned for a couple who recently visited Shelter Island located in Long Island, New York.  I enjoyed seeing the images of this charming island,  The small cafes, boutique groceries, and lovely beaches make the island seem a delightful place to visit.

This map includes roads to facilitate navigation through the winding roads of the island and small illustrations of some "favorite" spots on the island.

Chicago Map

I recently designed this in progress wedding map for a couple who will marry this July in Chicago.  They are crafting a handmade, DIY wedding, with invites made on 5x7 folded kraft cards. The couple bought a typewriter and has been typing all the paper products. 

They wanted a wedding map with a vintage feel, so I designed this custom map for them.  It was a pleasure to create a wedding map for my home city, with familiar landmarks in the Chicago's Little Italy and Fulton Market areas.

Iowa State University

I designed this custom wedding map for a couple who will wed at Iowa State University this fall.  Their invitations were designed in a playful hand drawn style, so I designed this map to match!

Edmonton, AB

 

I recently completed this custom map to be included on a wedding insert for a couple who will marry in Edmonton, Alberta.  The map features a small sketch of the wedding venue: Country Lodge, along with the main roads in the area.  I love making maps and daydreaming about travels to new places!

Custom Wedding Map

The design for this custom wedding map is in progress.  It is a design for a couple who will wed in Washington, D.C.  this spring.  The bride liked the playfulness of maps with a hand drawn feel.  I had great fun creating this map with little sketches of the church where the ceremony will the held, the white house, and the reception venue.

I've spent a bit of time in Washington, DC and am alway fascinated to see the pattern of streets, which reflect Pierre-Charles L'Enfant's 1791 plan for the city of Washington.  This scheme of broad radiating avenues connecting significant focal points and gridded streets oriented north, south, east, and west is fascinating to see in two dimensions.  A great city to map!
